i have this 80 gig drive its been wonderful it was in my file server

but i took it out and tryed to put it in this rig. mounted it in a 5.25 shot

pluged it in but i bent a pin on it :mad

after i looked at it for a few i tryed to bend it back (like we all try to do)

i did but there was a proplem.

i can see the other end of the pin, ware it connects to the hd "mobo"

i check the web site (ibm darkstar if your wondering what kind it is) its still under

warranty (at least that is what i read).

but the problem is that i still had stuff on it, here is what is did

look at this

i taped a pen cap to the drive so the pin will connect to the mobo

i booted and look at what happend

the next thing was tryin to find a drive here that can fit all of the programs and stuff i have on it

sorry for the blury pics yahoo resized the pics for me

The pics are too small to see any details. I can probably fix that drive for you if needed.

Jeff,

We apologize; our warranty does not cover physical damage to a drive. Our
current warranty statement can be found using the following URL:

Thank you for contacting Hitachi Global Storage Technologies.

I knocked a pin off of a 10gig WD drive and managed to solder it back on. The drive has been putting along for a year now in a Slot A 750 machine. :D

way back when I knocked something or other of the bottom of my Fujitsu 5 giger...
I posted pics on PCA of the plastercine I used to stick the capacitor/resistor/transistor/whatever it was back on and I used the drive like that until it died a year later :)

and it died because it was a Fujitsu... not because of the plastercine ;)
