Hi, long time no post ;) i had linux on a machine and now I need to install windows on it. After windows has copied all files and goes back toa ccess them (after reboot) i get "Error Loading Operating System." I assume this is caused by the boot loader from linux, but I'm not sure. What is happening and how can i fix it? Thanks.

Did you format or fdisk the drive ? You might need to fdisk /mbr.

yeah, i formatted it with XP... i tried a quick format, which i always do.... and when that didn't worth i thought that perhaps for some reason quick format doesn't remove a boot loader, so i did the long format. that didn't work either.

Get a Win98 boot disk from http://www.bootdisk.com , then boot-up with it and fdisk the drive. It sounds like there might be a small boot partition on thr drive from Linux. I don't know Linux so I could be wrong.

Yup..

From what I've been seeing, Linux will make it's own boot partition. So you'll need to fdisk it off of there..

Was a bootable CD that would give you the choice to boot to command prompt w/CD-ROM support.. You might try that.. eGo

Depending on what version of Linux you were running, you can boot off the install cd, and do a repair mbr from the linux boot cd.
