aopen ak77-400max (kt400a chipset)
xp1700@ 2.1 ghz
512 drr pc 2700 ram
radeon 9000
xp pro with service pack1

fresh rma from newegg(mobo)
ok install of os went good, up until i installed the motherboards agp driver(via 4 in 1 hyperion 4.51)
if i use the motherboards agp driver, windows stops recognizing my video card??
in device manager it shows up as "viacpu to agp2.0/3.0 controller"
it has a code 10 error and the video card fails to initialize

however if i uninstall this agp controller and install cat drivers, the card seems to be recognized by windows!!!
3dmark wont even run because it says i dont have direct x installed?
installed 9.0 b like over 10 times now

games skip(cs, wc3)
i would literally be in the tunnel in de_dust
and then all of a sudden im back at spawn runnin to the tunnel?
any advice at all appreciated
i need this matter sorted for a good friend

Check This Out..

well im still having the errors
the pc seems to run fine if i format the computer, and let it install the via cpu to agp controller from windows

but im losing out on the agp2.0 to 3.0 controller?
is this a big performance loss im suffering?
if i even attempt to install the newer agp controller my sytem will crash immediaetly on reboot!!

if anyone has a effective solution i would be moer than glad to listen!!!

cheers and happy holidays guys

:D

I should think that there wouldn't be much of a performance difference - the XP VIA AGP drivers are okay. However it's puzzling that it doesn't work with the 4-in-1s.

Have you tried resetting BIOS to safe default settings? Maybe you have an AGP setting that's causing stability issues.

Needless to say if you're overclocking try it without overclocking.

Have You..

OC well.. I have two of them.. What kind of cooling is on it? Active or Passive? Because that thing gets DAMNED hot with only passive cooling. I'll have to fiddle with mine some tonight and see what kind of clock speeds I can get on it.

i tried ocing it, using riva tuner but it gives me the vpu error about a minute after i apply the settings!?!
however it oced real good in the previous motherboard it was in before the rma.
its confusing to me!!
:(

edit:
ive seem to have solved my problem
i had to set teh agp driving range to manual in bios
and enable agp 3.0
now the correct agp controller installs!!
im still not :p :p :p :pin with via again though
:D
