nforce2 3.13 chipset drivers....hmmmm

I've tried twice to upgrade the chipset drivers on my DFI LPNF2U.

1st time = pave over move. Just installed them over top of old ones in XP. Sound panel wouldn't p/up rear speakers in Nvidia control panel. bummer. System restore and back to 2.45's.

***Refomatted in between. Wasn't related to drivers but rather utilization of a different RAID config. Fresh install w/ 2.45's***

2nd time = uninstalled all nvidia related stuffs in control panel > add/remove. Total crash and black screened. Was able to get back in via safe mode and do a system restore back to 2.45's. All seems well except for the occaisional audio hiccups when playing mp3's in winamp ( during periods of heavy cpu usage). Which is what I was hoping to correct.

Anyone had any luck with this newer driver release? :mad

I'm back to using the drivers that came with the mobo. Could my RAID array ( o/b Hpt327N RAID 1.5) be causing the fuss? I wouldn't think so but maybe someone knows different? :kookoo

I'm not much help with the problem but I am using the new drivers with no problem. I just installed them over the top of the old drivers on my Epox 8RDA+. Only difference I can tell is in the IDE performance and driver interface. Now they look like the MS drivers letting you see what DMA mode your IDE is running in.

Did you guys install the nvidia IDE or not? Gives ya a choice.

And are you using 4 or more speakers? Just wondering if you got rear speaker support after moving to the 3.13 drivers.

Yes it gives you the option to install or not install the IDE driver. Yeah I am using a 4 speaker surround sound with a sub and they are all working fine.

What's the word on the IDE driver? Install it or no? I've heard the default XP driver is better.

That was definitely the case before this driver release but the new IDE driver is fine. I have not benched it to be sure but to me the IDE performance seems a little better that the MS driver.
