I got worms....

Post by TheBattousai »

For the past day now my virus scan keeps telling me it is finding and deleting winhlpp32.exe which is being recognized asa W32/Gaobot.worm.gen. So far there seems to be nothing wrong, but it keeps coming up almost every hour saying its gotten rid of the exact same virus. I'm guessing there is some other file I need to get rid of, but my virus scan does not find anything else infected. Any clue what to do??

Most modern viruses and worms CANNOT just be removed by a virus cleaning. You usually also have to repair damage to the registry otherwise the virus is restored from a hidden backup.

Read the specific repair instructions for the virus you have - either from Symantec's or McAfee's website. Sometimes there's a special free repair tool available for specific viruses.
