Finally got my new pc up and running, BUT

The ram only counts to 256, I thought I bought 2x256=512
Do I have to have the dimms in certain slots to do Dual mode.

ABIT NF7-S
Geil pc3200 golden dragon

Thanks,
Mage

Put them in DIMM slots 1-3 or 2-3 in order to enable dual channel. It's in the manual. Try reseating the memory if you're only seeing 512.

I've heard some dubious reports about that GEIL memory so the first thing I'd do is check each stick to make sure they both function properly.

Thanks so much for your response VidmanII, I see you're running the same board. Welp as it turns out I ended up reading the book too and it said to put the dimms in 3-2-1 in that order. Welp I put one in and it runs fine by itself, put the next one in by itself and nothing but beeps. You think it's a dead stick?

Also I had orderd the PC2700 Ultra stuff, but the company didn't stock that anymore so they conveniently sent me the pc3200 golden dragon stuff. I'm thinking I might should've gone with the corsair stuff.

Kingston HyperX works well in the Epox mobos. Less pricey than Corsair, and Corsair can have problems with Epox also.

Mine is Good.. :)
