Anyone klnow how to tell if a hard drive is running in UDMA mode on an NForce2 mobo?

I've got a system here that's not getting great HDD performance and I'm starting to suspect that the drive is not running in UDMA mode.
However, unlike most EIDE controller drivers, the NForce2 driver doesn't show you the UDMA mode in use for each device in the properties in Device Manager, nor is there a stand alone utility that I'm aware of.
SisSoft Sandra doesn't tell me either.
Thanks.

I had the same problem and asked this over at AMDMB forum. Everyone suggest rolling back the driver and using the MS native driver. I did this and was pleasantly surprised. It shows the DMA mode and actually performed better than the Nvidia driver did...at least for me

That's the major weak point of Nforce 2 chipsets. Hell, their last couple updates on chipset drivers, they didn't even try to fix it, seems like.

Sounds like the Nvidia IDE SW driver which sucks completely. I never install that and still get the mode displayed.

IIRC the nForce2 IDE driver actually installs as a SCSI miniport... Is it listed under SCSI devices in Device Manager?

Just thinking at loud , how about to changing that from the Bios ? I belive you have some settings to change each device from normal to UDMA 1 to 5 .

It appears as a SCSI device only if you install the SW driver. With the 2.45 series it isn't included and the drivers allow for the mode to be displayed...I can post screenshots if necessary.

Doesn't appear under SCSI controllers, only under IDE controllers. Using v2.03 NForce2 mobo drivers.
AUGIX: Any settings you make in BIOS only affects DOS. Once you boot up, Windows manages your computer as it's own BIOS.

I have an 8RDA+ and it shows that my drives are in UDMA 5. I have the 2.45 nForce drivers installed and I did not install the SW driver. These settings are available in all the drivers I've used from 2.03 on up.

I have an 8RDA+ Says I'm using 6.16 or somethin' like that for the IDE drivers.. But I have UDMA 2 for my CD-RW and my DVD and UDMA 6 for my HD.. he he... Wonder why I have 6 instead of 5? I'm not complainin'..

Maxtor HD? Then it's UATA133.
The 2.03 drivers still included the IDE SW driver which is bad if you ask me and everyone else. Update to the 2.45 drivers and you won't have that problem.

BTW That is my DVD ROM and CD-RW. Yeah my DVD-ROM runs at UATA66 not 33.....Pioneer slot load.
And i'm using WindowsBlind with Objectdock running at the top (imitates Dock on OSX)
