Abit KV7 & AMD XP 2500+

Post by map200uk »

hey guys,

sorry to hassle you but im desperate for help :(

I have the kv7 board and am experiencing problems, its not posting, the cpu im using is an amd xp 2500+(333) with 512mb crucial ddt p2100 in slot 1 along with a gforce 2 mx (32) however i have changed the card (just to test) to a gforce 4 ti4800se (128mb) and still no change

any help would be greatly appreciated

also i know this is gonna sound so lame, but is there any chance you could tell me how u set the board up, im 100% sure i did everything right

thanks

Mark

It could be your Ram...

Well, as you've said it's a the 333mhz Barton.. And you're only using PC2100 when you should be using at least PC2700... If the mobo is detecting the default values for the CPU it may not boot for you at all because the ram cannot work with the FSB the mobo is set to.. I could be completely wrong here.. Do you have a 266mhz CPU you could drop in there? GL eGo

the kv7 is kind of a strange board. it likes to set the ram at 333+ atleast with the bios that is on mine....might be sonethign along those lines

Is there no way to boot up and then change it, i thought it'd be able to run at lower than 333 for ram?

Just like a 333 fsb cpu can run in a board supporting only 266 but obviously only at 266

if you have another cpu drop it in there and see if you can get a bios update....or atleast see if there is a new bios.

With either CPU? You may need to try and boot with the slower CPU then go into the bios and change the settings in the CPU part from "default" (which reads whatever the CPU is) to Advanced or Manual or whatever and set it to something lower and then try? If it's not booting at all, I'm not sure what to tell you.. :( Got the CPU fan connector hooked up to the CPU fan connector plug?
