Newegg refurbs? (OT)

Post by Lazlo Panaflex »

All,
Just wanted to get your thoughts/opinions/experiences with Newegg refurbs...specifically motherboards. I'm currently looking at the Asus P4P800 non-deluxe 865PE motherboard for $59. Seems like a good deal, but I've heard that getting all the accessories (cables, drivers, back-plate, etc.) is hit-or-miss, and that a lot of that stuff may wind up DOA.

thanks -
LP

Mostly good experience. they came with everything. Once though it didnt have anything, bare board only. but what you expect I guess.

Thx Greg. I just spoke to the customer service rep. There's a 15 day return policy & no accessories included (rep verified this) but if it dies after that period, you're literally SOL...no manufacturer warranty included! Passing on this one.

last time i looked newegg had a no questions asked return policy - I got a refurb ps that was all done up with blue tape (and didn't work)

there are good deals but ususally i don't bother with the risk of something dying on the 16th day

ONly one experience with Newegg refurb. Got a Gainward TI 4800 SE it came with nothing just the card and an anti static bag in a plain white box. Thought the card was a bit flaky but turning the OC down a bit seems to have cured that.

I got a Newegg refurb MSI mainboard about a year and a half ago that simply did not work. They were good about RMA'ing it and I have no complaints except that I wasted a bunch of time with it.

You go for refurb, you takes your chances that you will waste time and energy. No hassle for me on returning it ...

Got an EpOX 8K7A+ a while ago. Had it a year then I went in to put some more ram and maybe it was it's time or maybe I touched something I wasn't supposed to, but I always had problems after that. But it worked for a long time before then & came with everything a retail board would...I was quite happy.

motherboards

They usually come with everything you need but sometimes it can come with just the board. The boards are usually good and if its defective, newegg promptly gives you another one.

I have purchased two motherboards from the refurb section. Both are still working, both came with everything. It's been nearly a year though, since I bought the last one. I would do it again. :)

Their refurbished are pretty good. Sometimes they don't have all the acessories the main thing is usually good. Just watch out for warranty conditions.

i've only had one experience w/ newegg refurb... and it was quite bad..

i ordered a radeon and it came doa... basically i tried to save 30bux and ended up wasting 15-20bux on shipping to and fro... i'll never ever try their refurbs again.. just not worth the hassle if you get crap like i did

Well that stinks, chottoED....sorry that happened. Guess they're trying to make up for all that free Fed-Ex shipping :-\
