350W kingmax PSU not enough "umph" for this comp??

I built a PC for a friend and it all worked perfectly

SPECS:
asus a7n8x deluxe
athlon Xp 2700+ (tbred)
2X geil golden dragon 3200 256MB
60GB WDC JB HD
4X blue LED fans

KINGWIN 350W PSU

it ran fine last night when I left but he says that today he was playing a game and all of a sudden it rebooted with the error "System failed memory test" and wouldn't boot, I tested the ram and CPU and they were ok, in fact after I removed the hardware and reinstalled it it functioned fine.. now the problem is that after about 1 minute of windows being started it trips and reboots...

during boot I noticed the neon fans flickered slightly! I suspect the power supply is not good enough, should I get a 450W PSU?

just seeing what all you thought before I start makeing more poor dicistions. thanks as always

I'd think a kingmax 350 would work fine for that. What video card and cpu cooling?

But if it's all of a sudden rebooting after a minute, I'd suspect something he may have done. Like install something that is causing a problem, or something came loose. I'd reseat everything and check all the connections and be sure nothing is shorting it out. Run adaware to, if you can get it to run fully.

Still could be the psu though, or perhaps it is a bad one. If you have any similar to try and test, that'd be a great way to check and be sure.

you overclocking it?
if so, back it down a bit

also, have you checked the 5v and 12v rails? make sure they are within the 5%

I was in a rush to post, so i forgot those details... the videocard is a asus gf4 ti 4800SE and the CPU is not overclocked in fact I underclocked the CPU to 650MHz to see and it behaved the same, witch leaves me a bit comfused, because it did indeed reboot after a minute or so...

Are the fans connected to the motherboard headers ? Try moving themm off the motherboard and onto the powersupply feeds.

I had a computer doing that and it turned out to be a bad stick of ram. Given the reputation that Geil ram has developed I would suspect the ram. Try running it with only one stick and swap the two around to see if the problem goes away.

When I bought my Dual Channel kit of Geil, one of mine was bad... so I second Dad's suggestion. Of course after I got my replacement, my Geil has been running like a champ. Up to 213MHz silky smooth.

I swaped his geil ram into my system, it booted fine.. the fans are indeed on the motherboard. I will move them to the 12v molex connectors and see please check on this thread often everyone and offer what knowlage you have! the last thing I want is for poor spencer to have to send something back to newegg....
