8rda+ Ata33?????

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

Ok Guys.. When the comp boots it says both of my IDE devices are ATA33. Lite-On 48xCD-RW and WD800JB Any Ideas? It's set to auto in the bios, should I change this? eGo

Stupid question I know, but I assume you're using ATA133 cables right?

Do you have the CD and hard drive on the same IDE port? A lot of controllers have a problem with that. The CD-RW drive is probably ATA33 (few are faster) and it's possible that the CD-RW is holding back the HDD.

I always put the CD on a seperate port (preferably as a slave) whenever possible. It avoids a lot of problems.

Might not have been a "stupid" question.. One of these cables does appear to be kind of "big" in the gills.. So I'll swap them out and see.. *goes to check* DAMN FP! You hit it right on the head.. Do I feel like an idiot.. lol.. Thanx SO much! eGo
