That's normal. The AMD motherboards just double that to make bus speed. Download and run cpuid, it will show you. ;)

What kind of cooling do you have on your cpu?

Go into your bios. Then into advanced chipset features.

Change cpu frequency multiple setting to menu.
Change cpu frequency multiple to 11.0x
system performance to user defined
cpu interface to optimal

cpu vcore setting to menu
cpu vcore to 1.7
agp frequency to 66 mhz
agp 8x support to disabled

exit and save changes

If you have decent cooling that should get you to 3200+ speed (2200)

If your system reboots, hangs up or is unstable, then change the cpu external frequency to 190. It may take playing with that setting and/or the vcore to get it going well. You might can even oc with default vcore of 1.65.

Good luck :) And please post your results.

hehe---thanks--all i have so far is the factory cooling that came with the 2500barton retail!i know it suks but what are some good options for that?i have a thermaltake 7 but its like a freakin airplane taking off!is running on my 2nd machine so i dont have to hear it if i dont want!---the case is cooled very good--have the antec case (like the alienware cases)--have fans on the harddrives also--not that that helps much for chip cooling---gonna be putting in a blow hole on top soon!

Ya gotta watch out for aleins with green flouresent beady eyes too. ;) :d

Many have overclocked just fine using the amd retail heatsink. They have improved it. Especially if you have one of the nickel-plated copper ones. Though temps will be higher.

The best value heatsink is the Thermalright SK-7 and with a decent fan like a 80mm ys tech one. The SK7 is among the best, along with the SLK700, SLK800, SLK900. Others include the Aero 7+, vantec aeroflow. With your mobo, only the "A" version of the SLK900 will fit.

Check out our main news page on the left for many reviews on those heatsinks. ;)

*As for 8x agp, try it enabled and see if all is ok. Actually, try it both ways, post back if you get any differences. I've just heard when ocing it's best to disable that.

That's for benching your Video card (and it heats the processor up too).

But, for die hard processor stress testing, Prime 95 in the way to go. Mine quit after a while, but it seems stable and it runs Folding at Home fine, so i'm happy! :D

OK--it must of not worked to well--i changed it all the way ya said in your post---saved it to bios--both times in Pc wizard it still said same as factory settings---But when i started up madonion benchmark(just to see if scores got better) it said the processer was at 1730mhz --which means what i didnt actually underclocked i would think---also the chip temp was down 2 deg--is at 39c normally--was at 37c at the time of messing with the bios-----i am game to try anything --but i dont want to mess with it unless i have some direction----- i have 2 backups running and a server (for Teamspeak) - but i have a reputation at the LAN party we have every fri night and they would laugh there kester off at me bringing a "backup" PC--then theyd say haha--u overclocked and we told ya not too....... thansk for any help!
