ATX power supplies have to be connected to a motherboard or have a pin (14?) shorted to ground to run. AT power supplies will run w/out being connected to a motherboard. They will not, however, put out their rated voltages unless there is a load across the 5v terminals. You can put a load on the 5v line by getting a 3-5 ohm power resistor at Radio Shack and hooking it up to the 5v lead.

Thanx Mandrake... That's the info I've been looking for. I did some googling and had little luck. And I knew that it didn't "need" to be connected to the mobo, but the PSU was just coming on for a second then shutting back off (worked find when I took it out of the case) and I didn't know what could be causing the problem. I will definatly try the above out.. TY eGo

Hey Nascar..
That's exactly what I'm wanting to use mine for. But, even after reading the post that Mandrake provided, the PS I'm using is still not staying powered on. I'll have to take it inside to my mother to ask questions about the colors as I am color "stupid" and not sure whether I have the right ones connected. I pulled it straight out of an AT Case that I had here, it worked before I pulled it, and yah, i've still got the switch hooked up. If I still can't get it to work, I'll scrap it and try another.. Thanx..eGo
