what is this pc going to be used for? i think 4GB of RAM is massive overkill...spend your money on other components to speed the pc up (faster hard drives/scsi/raid, etc).

unless you're running an exchange 2000 data store on it with thousands of users pounding it every couple minutes. ;)

I think....

Unless you're a VERY serious Photoshop user, or a developer using VMWare or some other big memory hog app, 4Gb is a waste. I would consider 1Gb more than adequate for most people.

All that shait and you're on dial-up????? eeegadz  Is that a "wish list" type rig or have you actually built it?

What, pray tell, are you planning to do with all this high priced hardware?

seriously man...there is no point to that much RAM, etc...it's a waste of money. at least get SATA drives in RAID or something. 1GB is more than enough.

Very nice system I geuss, but unless you really need all that for a reason, perhaps scale back some on the pc and buy yourself a house instead :)

Got a house already? Ok buy a condo in Hawia! :)

What I really think is cut back on the ram and buy a second Hard drive at least. So if that 250 crashes and needs rma'd you got a backup.

And go with the newest AMD, forget intel

I say build an awesome overclockable computer for 2 grand (you could make an AMAZING computer for 2 grand that'll oc to faster speeds then the above) and put the other 2 grand towards a downpayment for a BMW!! :D

Oh, and 4gb of ram is absolute overkill. That kind of ram is even overkill for most SERVERS. You could literally install windows XP on 4gigs of ram. If you end up getting that much, make sure you try running a game form it! :D

for over 4k you might aswell buy a mac....

they have better resell value too...

dont get me wrong though, i hate mac people, but they do make pretty good machines if you are willing to buy a computer instead of putting your kids through college :D

the 4gb idea is not a good one, 1gb like FP said is fine, perhaps 1.5 or 2 max.

Massive overkill on the Ram. And HD's over 120 are a waste, they take forever to defrag, and if they crash...forget about. I like the 60 gig/External 120+ HD set up myself. I could never personally afford it though. I like AMD's CPUs too. But damn it if I don't dream of Intel at night. Of course I would love to own such a wonderful machine...
