On-board audio issues with gigabyte...

I've got a Gigabyte 7VRXP (according to Sandra) with onboard audio. It's got the VIA 8T366 chipset with a built-in Soundblaster 128 audio. I get wierd cracks and jumps in sounds/music. I remember there being issues with this a while back but I had thought I had corrected it. Then at the lan I started getting it again. Any ideas? Anyone know if they fixed this? I believe I've got the latest bios, I'll check to ensure as well as the latest drivers, but anyone got a fix?

definatly sounds like a driver issue, have you tryed going to driverguide.com and going threw the drivers there, maybe rolling back ?

I would recommend the latest driver on Gigabyte's site. If that doesn't help then I'd highly recommend just disabling the onboard sound and getting a C-Media 8738 chipset sound card like this one for just $13 shipped:

It'll sound better than that older design SB 128 chipset, and C-Media drivers are a rock.
Slightly nicer card with the same chipset is this one with digital in/out if you need it:

ahhh okay I'll give that a try.
I remember seeing somewhere that this was an issue when the boards first came out as I had that problem with my first AMD when I got it. Supposedly it has something to do with the VIA chipset and the sound card causing issues. I'll see if I can dig up some more info on it and find out what's been going on, otherwise the new sound card might be the solution
