X10 cams, any good?

I am thinking of setting up a small survalance system and other stuff.

Has anyone tried those X10 cams we all get spammed about? Are they any good, can you actually see in detail whats going on and who is doing what from any distance clearly? Or do you have to be staring right into the camera, or is the picture like a thumbnail to be clear :(

I was thinking about something like those wireless motion detection camera's they have. For viewing things like my shop and other buildings, driveway ect... That way if anything comes up missing I can see who's been around :)

Also I was thinking set some up to view pens and coups if I get animals again. See what's getting the chickens or baby pigs! Maybe see if I could set up an alarm system too so that if they detect a goat getting out of the pen they set off a buzzer on the PC.

Course if they work about as good as a cheap webcam, they won't do me a bit of good! I need to see a fairly large area clearly.

I figure if they are any good, I could hook a few up in the trees pointed at the buildings or pens, one each side. I should be able to figure out how to connect a small solar panel and battery to the wireless ones so they are always charged. They could be totally hidden from site that way and no-one would know they were there if I set them up to watch the house or shop. Then I just have to hide the computer they record to. If someone steals my systems it would't be too good recording them doing it, if they take it with them :)

My future house will kick ass...tons of computers and electronic equipment. :D

Sounds like an awesome idea. Sorry, I can't tell you anything about the X10 cameras, maybe a few reviews somewhere? Maybe X10 paid of Tom's Hardware too... :p

Thanks for the link Nascar, I'll check it out.

My feeling on buying spam advertised products and how to do it!

First I hate spam, but sometimes it is not the companies fault, they really hate the spammer too, but they have the affilate programs and unfortunatley people do spam. And sometimes get booted from the programs too! I am a member of a couple programs that strictly prohibit spam, but I have recieved spam from others anyways. I also saw some postings whinning about thier accounts being dumped!
But of course there are far too many compainies that say " We prohibite Spam, but go ahead and do it anyway"!

When I do find something I might want to buy, I go directly to the site by typing in the site address.
NO CODES for the spammer! SO for quickinks.com I type it in a new window, and the spammer gets nothing!!!

Then if I think I want to buy something, I check out the affiliate program myself! if it looks decent I join, set up a link on my dummy site and by through myself :)

I think it was quickink.com I just got a check from :)
I got spamed and still do all the time for ink. I needed ink awhile back for a Xerox printer. SO I did the above. SPammer got nothing, I got 15% off my own purchases, plus after the first purchase I got a 10% discount coupon. SO with my coupon and own link I saved 25% on my purchases :)
And they had good low prices for something I needed!

I have done that for several products, and if I buy any X10 cams I will do the same thing again!
No, I'll never let a spammer make a buck for driving me nuts for a year! But if the products are good, and I want them, I'll let them pay ME to buy them :)

I like those random little checks in the mail when I least expect them!

Now on the other hand, if someone sends me a link by request or answers question about something like where to buy this or that, then it wasn't spam and I will use thier link since they are helping me out with something.

But spammers never make a penny off of me! Except, I have had to follow a spammers link to get the e-mail address of the company I was being spammed about. So they might have got a dime for the click through, but then I forwarded all of their spam to the company!! I geuss they lost thier account too!
I was getting hammered on 5 mail accounts, some as many as 4 e-mails a day for months. 3 weeks after I started forwarding the spam to the REAL e-mail of the company the spams totally stopped on all my accounts (about that company). 1 mail account I did not forward from, so I know they did not just remove my addresses, because the spam stopped at that one too! So I think I got the spammer booted!!

Sometimes there are ways to fight back, but it can be a apain!

Ok Nascar,
where did you find that??
WHY did you find that?

It was kinda funny and I liked it, but still I wonder, are the cameras any good for anything other than peeping and looking down tops?

Yea, cool way to drive a train, but I need a little more an HO scale picture :)

I'll try something when I get home, don't seem to be many peeps that tried them around here.
