Need a good recommendation for a Northbridge heat sink that DOES NOT require a fan

I'm sick of the noise the fan on the Northbridge HSF is making on my IWill XP333.

THANK GOD all the newer mobos seem to be getting away from fans on this chip.

Looking to replace this puppy with a nice long-finned heatsink.

Thanks.

ditto here too. :p

I put a Zalman heatsink on my AMD 761 nb, works great! Gets nice and warm with some AA Adhesive.

I might put one on my nforce 2 system soon too, the zalman is way better than this stock heatsink, lots more surface area. :)

I beg to differ, this is what you need.

Actually, I do concur. Here be it.

So it can be mounted with push pins? Doesn't look like it from the photo, but Blade linky implies as much.

I'd rather use A.S. and push pins rather than thermal adhesive.

Thx....

the gold one? yea, it has a goofy setup design you basicaly mak it with the pieces included. I think its dumb as hell bu it gets the job done.

Just put your pc in the next room and use external drives and cable extensions :D I'm so use to the noise i don't notice it anymore...

Absolutely amazing how much noise such a little fan can make. I unplugged it and the system was all but silent.

To top it off, I find those little fans RARELY last more than 3 or 4 months. I've replaced this one once already.

I can tell you right now that it's wonderful to not have to worry about it. Although, the last time I took out my 7DXR, my Zalman heatsink actually popped off, cause I used the Zalman Adhesive. Used some of my AA ADhesive and noticed a marginal difference in the temp of the heatsink, good sign. :)

Go to the Zalman website for the details on mounting. The way it works in kind of nice, because then it'll easily fit on the ASUS A7N8X, cause their holes are unique. ;)
