I remembered I had an external Creative modem blaster V90 in the box here.
As I recall, I had trouble with the serial port sometimes being detected and sometimes not, then I would have to reboot and then I would get the port the second boot. I was pretty sure that was in 2k, but maybe it was 98se??
I just installed the modem on the Iwill xp333, and first thing out of the bag it said not 2k compatible

So luckily I had not yet removed the CPU builders modem and I downloaded the new drivers from creative for 2k.
Now I am online with it. 2k shows connection at 21.6k but it seems nearly as fast as the 33k or 37k connection in the 98se machine with a supra? I'll have to find a large file to download and see what I actually get.
Anyway, I geuss since I got the not 2k compatible message durring install I must not have used this in 2k, but I was pretty sure I had when I first built this system?
ANy idea if I will be having the problem of the serial port not detected sometimes durring bootup, and if so what to do about it?
I'll try to do a search though old messages too, but I don't think I solved the problem last time and that's why I put it away.
Thanks for the help, I am gonna get those other modems too, just now I don't have to hurry as I have it covered for now.
I wanted to get a modem in the kids system so she can get the tracks labeled when she rips her new disks to mp3.
Good birthday for her the 24th, I gave her a 52x liteon burner, 50 32x disks, portable MP3 cd player!
Oh ya and a new 20" flat screen TV, now she can watch the dvds I burn and tell me if they came out good

Man I didn't know how bad that 15 year old set was getting, still good but not nearly as crisp and clear as the new one. Those VHS/dvds I burned look great! Almost as good as the DVDs of the same movies when I have both to look at. Like Labryth, I got the DVD, VHS, and DVD-r I made.
