Another Laptop Q, intermittant display inop prob after being dropped

Yep, last fall I was moving it from the basement where I had it sitting on the bar, audio cable connected to the stereo down there and I forgot to unplug it (was in a hurry) and when the cord tightened up as I walked off with it, out of my hands and down it went, face down onto the ground.
That required a new HDD and floppy drive as both were dead after that. They didn't notice the dead floppy drive the first time either so that required yet another trip. I bought it at Bestbuy with an extended 3 yr warranty and no, didn't tell them that the thing fell (no obvious physical damage) so warranty has covered both repairs but it's gone for 2 weeks everytime as it has to be sent to Toshiba.
One thing that it still does, intermittantly is that usually if left on for a while, the display goes to dark (not totally dead but too dark to be seen in daylight, not useable). This seems to occur only after its been on for hours, like overnight and re-booting while being slightly bopped (not beat on too hard) is the only way to bring the display back. Re-booting without doing anything else when it's gone dark won't bring it back to life, it'll try but then go dark. I'll then tap/bop the top, next to the keyboard, re-boot again and it'll be OK for a long time. It might then not fail again for many days-weeks.
I took it with us when we flew to Tucson, AZ about a month ago and it was in its laptop bag with my other electronic devices (digi-cam, Garmin eMap, etc) and the case fell off the luggage cart at the airport but onto carpet. It didn't act up at all while on vacation and was fine here too for a while so I thought that maybe, just maybe its loose connection (my thoughts) had hopefully fixed itself but it's acted up again recently so I know the prob still exists.
When it was returned for the floppy drive replacement (many months ago), I mentioned this to them and it was typed onto the repair order BUT the guy said that they don't usually even try to do anything with intermittant problems like that if it's not presently acting up.
I think that there's a loose connection somewhere but I've never opened a laptop up. I've already checked all the obvious things that I can access w/o completely opening the thing up.
Anyone run into this before with laptops? I can try returning it to Bestbuy again, telling them that it needs to be left on for many hours to act up but that's not always a consistant thing. They'll probably do nothing again.
