Yes, very much. I had a scsi Toshiba 40x that was faster than my Asus 52x. I sold them both for my Kenwood, and it's faster than both, by far!

I have the Kenwood 72X. Drive is plenty fast but one problem I have had with it is it won't run with CloneCD for some reason. I have this drive along with a Plextor 12X/10X/32X Eide. All my copying software works with this combo except CloneCD. Maybe in the future CloneCD will make their software work with this combo.

I have a 50x sony in our puter upstairs. Very fast, relaiable and pretty cheap. I think I picked it up for like $45 brand new.
The plextor 40x scsi cdrom is awesome. I'm actually going to buy another here soon to put in my brothers computer.
I have heard nothing but good about the kenwood72x, but I am yet to use one for myself. But I have used the 52 and it is indeed very nice and fast!

For an IDE drive the Kenwood 72x is great. I've had one since they came out and mine still cranks along. I have used mine with Clone CD and it worked. All Toshiba drives are supposed to be awesome for copying programs or hard to read discs from what I have heard. I just ordered a Toshiba 12x SCSI DVD drive to go along with my SCSI Plextor 12/4/32.

TEAC 32X SCSI one of the best drives for reading anything and excellent DAE it will read anything even protected stuff very quickly. Check out GWC for more details.
I've got 2 of these drives: 1 4 & 1/2 years old and still trucking and another 1 year old also with no problems.

I also have both the Kenwood 72X and Plextor 12/10/32A IDE and niether give me problems. What exactly is "CD Clone"? Using the Adaptec software (Easy cd creator 4) that came with my new Plex, it'll copy a cd directly ("copy CD") in less than 10 minutes w/o any problems, no coasters.

CD Clone is a piece of software which can bypass some CD protection systems (most commonly SafeDisc).
