My cousin has a Sony DV camera and he's very happy with it.
I bought the Canon ZR45MC and I'm thrilled with it. For a little extra the ZR50MC has a few more features, but nothing I was really interested in.
I bought mine at BuyDig.com. They have excellent reseller ratings and good prices. They sell an "Executive" combo for most of their cameras that includes a VERY nice carry bag, 2 spare tapes, a spare battery and a len cleaning kit.
Whatever you get, MAKE SURE it has an A/V input (the Canon does). It allows you to use the Camcorder as a VERY high quality video capture device.

My .02: Sony is overpriced. By shopping around, you can get something that's just as good, if not better for less money. I don't understand why people see Sony and go "OH MY GOSH!!!"
Check out the reviews on
http://www.cnet.com and
http://www.consumerreview.com. Lots of real world experience there.
Also, PLEASE don't buy direct from Sony.

Well, at that price it is right inline with other brands with the same features. Im not PRO sony or anything. but some of there stuff is good, and some of there stuff isnt. like most componies. I find there cameras good (when you can get them at a good price) and I think I will go for this one.
But the point of this thred was for you guys to do al lthe looking around and research while Isat back and waited for the info.
