Hurting the TV?

Well, i was very happy to get the RCA out working from an old P3 650MHz laptop to the Sony 36" high deff. tv. Though, i have a little concern. It seems like when the laptop is running at a higher resolution (1024x768) it has to change to 640x*** (duh), but when it does this, the TV flashes a few times and it sorta looks like this change is messing up the TV. I watched a movie on it, worked great, but when i went back to video 1 (cable), i saw a few weird specs of color appear and disappear... this stopped after 5 to 10 seconds, but i want to make sure i'm not going to hurt this $2500+ TV when i could buy a $200 DVD-RAM. Please tell me your thoughts.

All this happens when the laptop is connected? If so then that's probably caused by the connection changes and the tv adjusting, that shouldn't hurt the tv. I remember when I use to connect my system to a tv, it'd make all kinds of weird flashes too.
Glad you got it working.

Yeah, it does it when i first use the function + F5 (how you change the display on this laptop), which i do at windows login. Then, it does it when it is logging in, which i assume is because login screen runs at different resoltuon / frequency. I'm glad to hear you don't think there is a problem. Maybe i'll use my old TV to do this, just to be safe.
