Update: Do NOT open your case during bad weather

Thunder has been rolling around Seattle today, so I couldn't finish the yardwork. Decided to spend my time swapping out a bad net card in my second machine.

I uninstalled in Device Mangler, shut down, opened the case, pulled the card, then plugged the system in again to boot once and install new drivers before inserting the new card.

No power. Apparently, I fried my mobo.

Good thing I bought a half case of Redhook...

Update - May 31:
Tried a different mobo that I know works...still no power. Hmmm, I thought to myself. As luck would have it, I found a guy the same day who was getting rid of an old P5/166 which he figured also had a fried mobo, cuz he bought a new PSU and still got nothing...so I bought his beat up old box for $15 and got a cheapo 250W P-IV PSU, and my machine is alive!

Jeez, that's the second PowerMan that has died on me in the last four years. The PSU in my 7-year-old P5/133 is still running strong.

Ah, but I killed that half-rack anyway...

Doubtful. It's a slot 1 BX. Finding another that runs a Katmai 600 is very difficult these days, and they don't come cheap.
