Getting mouse stutter on Epox 8RDA+ mobo

Clean install of Win2K, not much installed yet except SP3 and a few basics. The PS/2 mouse stutters a lot. A USB mouse stutters less but it still stutters. Sometimes the PS/2 mouse is not even detected when you boot (hasn't happened with the USB mouse yet).
Only cards installed is a Promise Ultra133TX2 ATA133 controller card, and a GF3 video card. Sometimes it seems like the stutter is accompanied by hard drive access - hard to tell because I haven't got the HDD LED connected yet and the drive is very quiet. However it definately does not stutter every time the drive accesses.
Anyone know of any issues with this board? I'm downloading the latest nForce drivers from Epox's site right now (used the ones on the CD).

Get the latest nforce drivers from nVidia, they are newer than what Epox has. Have you tried a bios update ?

never download drivers from epox they are about 6 months behind on driver updates... get em from the source
no problems here with my mx700 probably something with win2k lol

Not totally sure yet since it comes and goes, but disabling the NForce background audio utility seems to fix the stutter.
I'll try the newer drivers.
BIOS is 4/2/03 - I'll see if there's a newer version. Any trick to flashing the BIOS on this thing? I see the F2 option during the POST screen, but I also have this little booklet about the "Magic Flash" utility. Updating your BIOS from Windows sound scary to me.

I can't speak for Epox, but I know Asus' Windows flash utility works very well.

I haven't got the epox magic flash to work yet. I did use the F2 option. It worked great. Just put the bin file on a floppy and boot normally. Hit F2 when it show. Just follow the prompts after that. It's faster than using a boot floppy.

Okay updated flash to 5/7/03 and just installed lastest drivers from NVidia. We'll see how it goes.
There was a mention in the Flash BIOS fixes description about a PS/2 keyboard swap problem and a "wacky" mouse in Win98. Hmmm....

i've used the magic flash utility without issue - the only prob is you have to run it at off hours to get into the epox website - you fully download the bios before the flash so if your net blinks out it isn't an issue - just remember to change to optimal settings in the bios before you flash - you can reset your tweaks afterwards
never had any mouse issues - using a usb ms optical

Well, I was forced to wipe it clean and re-install WinXP (so much for going back to Win2K).
The stutter problem was eliminated by going to XP.
