Newegg has several brands I never heard of like simple tech, buffalo, All Components, ect. Is that stuff decent?

The above 2 were what I am planning to buy. Price is basically the same, which is better?
In the old days I used PNY and kingston for the pc100 simms, I think I heard good stuff about Corsair around here. I was buying generic "house brands" for awhile, but I am looking for quality stuff now that prices are down so low! Although I don't thnk I had any ram problems, I 'm sure the systems could have ran better with better quality ram.

I didn't see anything for Samsung 512ddr above a pc2100 stick. Could be because I limited the search to $75 max.

I will probably buy 2 or 3 512 sticks and maybe a few 256 sticks too.

Anyone know what direction ram is going in price?

Corsair always has good quality and they might even be in business a year from now if you need an rma

Speaking of RMA,

Just how does one RMA a memory stick? I mean a hard drive, mother board, video card etc.. is normally pretty easy to Identify.

How do you tell who made which ram stick to rma it if you use various brands? I have a toll free number for a stick or two of 256mb ddr, but I don't remember which stick it's for

Luckily I never had to ram any, yet.

I had a Samsung stick of PC2700, it was fine with my 1.6a o/c'd to 2.4. I since replaced it with two sticks of Crucial back when I could get them for $72 a piece.

I planned on having all three sticks in my machine...unfortunately, they are all non-ECC sticks, so only two sticks can be used. Keep this in mind while purchasing...

i stay away from brands I have never heard of

Between the 2 brands you are thinking of.......

1- i have also heard good stuff about corsair
but
2- Thats the only brand in my systems is kingston. Havnt had any problems with the sticks themselves (had a board fry one stick of pc2100, got it RMAed without a problem

as far as RMA....each company is different
If you buy it from newegg....you should try to RMA through them first.
Usually you need to know the brand of the chips (ex: on kingston Nyana (sp?) would be the chip names), the numbers (ex: kvr2100cl25-256, etc....)

i'm running Geil Dual Channel Kit (2) 512MB PC3200 and it kicks mucho butt

it's been running at 209mhz (418) at 6-3-3-2 and Geil's member (i've been told) can be run at voltages up to 2.9v w/o voiding the waranty.. directron.com has good prices on Geil btw
