Im installing my new mobo. Chaintech 7NJS.
I put in the winXP and boot off it to install...works great...windows installed.
However when I take the CD out the computer will not boot.
Boot devices are in this order CD, HDD0
If I have the bootable CD in and do NOT boot from the CD when prompted it will continue to boot from the HDD normally. But if I take the bootable CD out the damn thing will not boot at all. I have changed the order of the boot to HDD0, CD....but that doesnt work eather.
Very strange that it will boot from the HDD if there is a bootable CD in eventhough I dont boot from the CD....
any suggestions, I dont want to leave the XP CD in all the time?

If there an option in the boot order to specify SCSI? Many modern IDE controllers are actually treated as a SCSI controller (especially mobos with onboard RAID). Worth a shot.

Have you tried restoring all BIOS settings to default?

it does have onboard raid but im not booting from the raid...ill try booting from the raid (dont think it will help...but worth a try).

BTW: now that we are talking about bios...how do I update the bios? Checking on CHaintechs website they have an updated bios but no flash program. when the computer starts I get DEL for bios, or ALT-F2 to enter award flash. I would think that hiting ALT-F2 would allow me to flash the bios..but that does nothing :(
