what a pain in the... i got my aiw 9700 pro today. settin it up as the book says... hit the power button and i get a blip of power - like a surge- and nothing. only way to restore any power is to flip power supply off for 15 secs... then start back up... and hit the button again.. and BLAM... same thing- power goes out.
so i disconnect the power from the card and power stays on when i reboot and i get a post in bright red across the screen that 'I' messed somethin up with the instillation. so i hook up the power again and it zips out again.
i put my old banshee back in and... everything works. is this an issue of power supply?
Abit at7-max2 mobo
amd 2700+
cdrw
3.25 floppy...
and the card.. only thing powered by antec truepower 430W supply...
suggestions?
thanks

gimme a break!
I've read of a few people having this problem with the AIW 9700. My guess was that the card was tripping the supply's overcurrent protection, causing the system to power down within seconds. Oddly enough, I think they were all using Antec supplies. Do you have a different supply handy that you can try?
i don't have any extra psu's around. but i think my motherboard is just unhappy. i pulled the card from the slots and fired the comp up and it lit up fine. i took the card out and tested it on one of the computer labs here at the college and everything ran fine.
when i got the board, the chipset fan wasn't working anyways, so i'm RMA'ing. hopefully, it was just a messed up agp slot.
i've been reading in a lot of forums around the net pertaining to the issues of the aiw 9700, and the majority of agp 8x slots. seems that alot of boards that are claiming to support 8x have extreme promblems adapting to 8x cards.
also, the majority of the problems came from cards that ended with part number 10... and i have 10. so when this new mb comes in, i think i'm gonna see how it all works and then give abit and ati a call on some tech support.
