I was looking at the SLK900 to couple with a 80W TEC because the SLK900 bolts on the motherboard itself. get a nice blue glowy fan to put on it, and i'de be set :-D does this sound ok to you all? thanks.

What are you going to cool with an 80 Watt TEC? If its an AMD cpu, I doubt that an 80 watt would do you much good.

Aircooling TECS is a bit dicey. All that heat has to go into your case unless you have a duct to the outside. Watercooling is really better, particularly for the whopping TECs needed for AMD CPU's.

I agree .... you need a beefier TEC for AMD cooling and that TEC will need an extra PSU, a 156W TEC is minimum ... and you will need watercooling since the TEC wattage adds to the CPU wattage. Even the loudest aircooled HSF will have problems to handle the wattage.

TEC? I am assuming this is a Thermal Electric Cooler? or (spelling) peltier junction.

Yep. I have fond memories of 72 watt peltier getting my celeron 300A up to 504 mhz.

Now it sits in my junk box. Should I try it on my Ti4200?

thats not a bad ideal for lower wattage PJs. I was gonna stack 3 of them and do wather cooling... but that never happened. Would of been able to go really fast! but then i thought about the problem with condensation and scrapped the ideal.
