XP Installation

Post by TheBattousai »

Okay, I basically scraped my parents comp and gave them my old Tbird 1Ghz rig. When I switched everything over, i got that awful blue screen saying something was f'ed up. After much trouble, I finally just wiped the drive and then tried to install XP Pro. EVERYTIME I have started the installation, it locks up at some point, but it is never the same file. Anyone have any ideas as to what I should try???

Is the CD damaged in anyway? You could try a different cd/dvd drive..

Check the RAM if you have more than one stick in the machine....

install the os with 1hd, one cd, video card, and 1 stick of ram. Then add everything else,
the less you start with the easier it is to isolate hardware conflicts
