Hi guys,
Working up a price for a PC for a friend of mine, and he would really like a P4 if possible. Can someone recommend a good middle of the road board for a P4 2.4Ghz? I went to Gigabyte and decided on a GA-8PE800 Pro ($110@NewEgg) but I'm not sure if that's the best board to use with a P4. Any suggestions would be helpful!

I like Asus's 845PE mobo.

Why not wait until Springdale and Canterwood mobo's hit? Won't be long now.

I also like the Asus motherboards. I've been using a P4B266-C for the past year with no problems.
The P4PE/L would be a good motherboard for a 2.4 GHz CPU. New Egg has it for $109.99. Like sbp said, the Canterwood and Sprindale chipset motherboards should be out within a month if your friend can wait that long.

Oh, I'm sure he can - he can't afford it right at this moment. So what do these new chipset's bring to the table versus the others?

Support for the upcoming 800MHz fsb Intel P4's. And support for dual bank DDR 400 ram support.
