will serial ata support more then 2 devices per cable like scsi?
If so with the transfer rates in the future and the smaller cable size, the potential is awesome

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but it is my understanding that SATA only supports one device per cable. So on a mobo like the ASUS NForce 2 you could only have 2 SATA drives unless you added a controller card.

That's correct..

Yah, that's right.. But I supposed the way around that is just as you said, the controller card.. But who knows.. With the controller card you may be able to hook 10 devices up.. I'm sure it will be just like raid cards.. They'll come in all sizes.. eGo

Yeah SATA is single device chains. We shall have to wait and see just how many devices a controller can handle, once SATA becomes more available and such.
