Anyone know of a reg hack to PERMANENTLY disable recycling bin on a removable drive?

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I use a removable tray on my computer. Normally my video editing drive is in there, but I often have to put client's or other drives in there to Ghost them, or do other things with them.

I never want the recycling bin enabled on it. However, whenever I swap drives the recycling bin for that letter gets re-enabled to default settings. It's a real pain having to manually disable it every time.

Anyone know a way to permanently force a drive letter's recycling bin status?

I'm just using the "Do not move files to recycling bin..." setting on that one drive. However whenever I swap the drive the setting is reset.

I could probably write a VB app to reset the registry setting every time I boot, but I'm lazy.

Oh, you only want to do it to the one drive? I don't know how to do that, but here's a link to the reghack that turns off recycle bin for all drives.
