im confused, you mean you got a connector running from the powersupply that powers a second fan on the powersupply? All fans that are in the powersupply should run from power directly supplyed by that powersupply. Should have no need to hook it to the motherboard to get a fan running

I think he's talking about...

The Floppy drive power.. I can't be sure though... Would help if we had pictures of what you were talking about. If you'd like something that might help as sort of a walkthrough, check out PCMech.com for a walkthrough.. Just do a search for building a PC and that should be a big help to you.. i just checked out that particular powersupply......nothing mentions a fan wire comming out to be hooked to the motherboard

you should have the main power connector
then you have an auxilary power connector (mostly for server motherboards)
then you have the square 12v connector (stabilizes the 12v rail)
Then there are the molex and smaller floppy power output connectors

If you were talking about the small square, 12v connector, then yes you should connect it if your motherboard has a spot for it.

this power supply even has a wire comeing out of it with a temperture sensor on it to monitor the temp inside case as to turn on the second fan in the ps. the wire i was wonderin bout says to hook it to the m/b as pwr_fan or pwr fan printed on the mb. it is the power an a signal wire to monitor the speed of fan or you can set the power supply to allways run the second fan. its a small 3 wire conector on the end. yellow, red, black wires.. ned53

Some power supplies with dual fans (like mine) do have a wire that connects to a fan header on the mobo. It's a sensor wire so the mobo can read the RPM of the 2nd PSU fan.

ahhh

well if the second fan wont run without, then do it. If the fan runs without it being hooked to the mother board, then there is no real need to hook it up unless you are really worried about the temp inside a psu
