I have been wondering what are the pros and cons of liquid cooling on computers are they also better than air, and are they worth it in the long run. thanks for any help

Watercooling is quite expensive but it is also less noisy than comparable aircooling. People choose water over air when they either seek a quiet PC or extreme overclocking.

I took on water cooling just because I wanted to.

I opted for a Koolance tower already setup with the hardware. I paid about $250 for the setup and I like it.

water cooling pros
------------------------
- Better cooling than air cooling, good for overclockers
- quieter (only need one optional fan on the radiator and whatever you decide you need in your case to keep ambient temps down)
- looks cool
- Can cool your processor, northbridge, videocard, harddrives
Water cooling cons
-----------------------
- More expensive than air cooling (but good kits can still be had for under $200)
- You do run the risk of a leak being sprung that can damage/kill your equiptment
- Needs more maintainance than air cooling
I think thats about it. I have been looking into watercooling for some time. I think I will be making the switch as soon as I got the extra money for the kit after i upgrade my processor and ram. Dont really wanna buy everything seperatly.

I'm in the process of reviewing the Thermaltake Aquarius 2 water cooling kit. If people just want super silent cooling and water kit for med to mild overclocking for the price and ease of installation u can't beat this kit. Its running about 10f warmer than my slk800 and 68cfm delta but damn there is very little sound from this kit. Crazy PC has them for 130 bucks i think.

kinda... but i know what the one im looking for looks like.. its a common cooler used in heavy industry. Steel mills have rows of them. the big grey things wiht the fans on the top and raidators on 2 or 4 sides.
