On the back of my LiteOn 48x24x48x drive is 6 pins next to the Digital Audio plug-in. Anyone know what those are for ? I think Plextor has them and those have something to do with DMA on the Plex.

I searched for over an hour and a half and came up blank. Tho, it might have something to do with an IR receiver, maybe. You can always take it apart and see if they wrote on the PCB where that header is.

Had another thought, both of these guys make USB models, and there's 4 pins right? 4 for USB and 2 for power? Just grasping at straws and throwing out ideas hehe

Could it be for Analog sound connection? I thought they were only 4 pins though.
I know a couple of my CD drives had both, maybe all of my drives?

Might be older stuff or software related, but some Cd's would play through the sound card fine with no cables, but I had some (maybe ones I burned) that would not play without the analog cable connected, though I could use headphones on the drive and get sound.

Although lattely I never use any audio cable to my drives and everything seems to play I think, don't play many comercail disks.

If you can't find the answer about those pins, e-mail tech support.
I haven't had to e-mail Lite-On yet, but for others it works this way :)

The first repsonse will most likely have nothing to do with what you ask, but then send them another reply to it and ask if they ever bother reading the questions and repeat the question! Tell them NOT to send any more useless links that don't apply, it works for me.

You might get a good answer the first time, but if they are like ATI or several others I had to email, the first answer is garbage! Useless links to all the stuff that don't pertain that you already read!

Word of advice that works for me, if you have to contact a place like ATI for support through the website, SAVE the email address when you get someone!! Had to fill in a page or more of garbage that does not apply, like type of O/S, CPU, H/d, ect.. If you have 3 systems configured differently and the same question applies to them all, then what? Next time just E-mail direct :)

My ATI AIW cards have sound connectors like the CD drives and Mother Board, Also like the wake up connecter for the lan and modems. But absolutely nothing about them I could find.
I pretty much I new they were for internal sound connections to the sound card, but the only thing I could find was to use the mini din connecter and plug it into the line in connecter on the outside of the case to the sound card. Since this fancy little card and software can be set up for motion detection with cameras I wanted to be certian it wasn't a wake up conection or something that might blow out my sound system!!

Sent them a question about how to connect the card internally to the sound system beacause I needed the line in for other uses. Also told them I seached the site and nothing pertained to what I wanted to know.
You KNOW what I got back. Links to anything that would pop up for a seach on SOUND at the ATI site, like I hadn't looked there yet? Bunch of links about no sound, sound pops, adjusting sound! Nothing of course about sound connecters.

Turned out I was correct, only needed to connect a cable to the conneter and mother board for sound.
But getting an answer to a specific question is like pulling teeth at times. Geuss they have so many people e-maiing them that are to lazy to look in a manual or never heard of PCA to get help, that they just don't read the first e-mail you send. JUst look at the subject, grab a keyword and send list of links that don't apply!

If you find out what those pins are for, and if it's something good like USB, be sure to post it :)
Might be a way to install more than 4 internal drives without having to buy an IDE controller. Maybe we can go internal USB on the CD's and DVD's???

Would be nice, I now have one more drive than I have ide connections :)
