I'm thinking about building a p4 3.06 system. The computer store guy said that the intel boards he sells are the best way to go on a p4 system. Rock solid and very good board.
The board number is a intel D845PEBT2. It uses DDR333 ram. Anybody have anything to say good or bad about this board. What would be your suggestions on a motherboard. I know rambus memory pc1066 is faster but if I was to use 1 gig of 333 DDR memory would I be making a mistake. Also on Hyper threading, will it work on a windows 2000 professional system or does it need XP to do its thing.

I don't think youll be making a mistake with the memory. Honestly, you really wouldnt know the diffrence outside of benchmarks.

As for the HT, yes it'll work. You can load any SMP OS and it'll see it as 2 CPUs
