PCI Firewire Card

hey guys/gals.. what's a good reliable (not too expensive) firewire card for a pc?

Just bought a Belkin card at Best Buy for $35. Works fine with my DV Camera.

thanks... FP that's exactly what i'm gonna be using it for.. (thought it was kinda useless dropping all these bills on my new DV camera and not being able to take advantage of Firewire)

The card doesn't come with a cable, and the damn firewire cables are expensive. If you have a Big Lots store nearby, they often have them for $7.
I just bought a Canon ZR45 MC. VERY happy with it. it was $520 at BuyDig.com (I can highly recommend them) in a bundle with a darn nice camera bag, 2 tapes and lens cleaning kit. Most other places wanted $575 just for the camera.
A nifty freeware utility you'll want to download DCAPP. It's a DV viewer/capture program. I don't use it for capture, but it's DANDY for playing videos on your computer screen from the DV camera. It even remote controls the tape. I use my laptop as a portable video monitor.
AMCAP if also on that download page and while it doesn't support remote control, it will playback from the DV camera in fullscreen.

I have a TON of video editing/capture software because I have friends in the business. Ironically, though, for reliable captures I've been using a 30 trial of Ulead VideoStudio 7. Everything else I've tried gives me grief.
Since I have a copy of version 4, the upgrade is only $45 to 7 so I think I'll buy it.

yeah, i've been thinking of upgrading to Ulead Videostudio 7 too. I bought version 6 sometime back and have no problems capturing, editing, encoding, etc.
i'm still debating whether a 6 to 7 upgrade is worth it
