OLD computer, socket 4 ??

Post by swinada »

I got that old computer laying around. Pentium 60. Could somebody tell me what the chipset on that is and up to what speed would fit that socket. It says "Socket 4" on there. Where would a guy still be able to buy a processor for something old like that. In Canada.

wow, socket4. they only used that on like 2 cpu's I think. 66mhz and 60mhz. the rest of the pentiums use socket7 I think. I could be wrong on this all but thats what I remember.

lol.. I just got an old IBM server that is a Socket4... Haven't plugged it in to see what speed it is.. But I wonder if there is an adapter out there that could enable to to use a higher processor.. hmmm.. gonna google for it.. But another thing I might do is just use the case and try to mod it so I can put a newer server board in it. I don't like the board it has now.. I'd have to get a PCI ATA card so that I could add more hard drives since it only has 1 IDE controller.. heh.. What do you guys think? Adapter or Mod? hehe.. eGo

socket4. they only used that on like 2 cpu's I think. 66mhz and 60mhz. the rest of the pentiums use socket7
Socket 4 for 60 and 66 MHz
Socket 5 for 75-133 MHz
Socket 7 for 150-233 MHz.
