It seems pricewatch has been down all day, possibly longer. I wonder if it was a victum of that "virus" that gave "hackers" access to servers (like web servers). I've never seen it down before, and i must admit there have been several times today alone i have been disappointed to not be able to use it.

For me at least, it's been down for 2-3 days, which sucks because I need some info!

(Offtopic: Anyone know what the going rate is for a p3 733/800mhz I wanna build a dual linux box)

I don't know why anyone would miss it. I only deal with 5 or 6 reputable companies I know. 90% of the companies listed in pricewatch have TERRIBLE reseller ratings.

PS: Yeah, P3 prices are rediculous lately - old tech should be coming down in price but they've actually gone UP. I'm looking for a P3 800 to 1000 FC-PGA to replace a 733 Celeron in my wife's IBM Netvista All-in-one system. Prices are NUTS.

Pricewatch is good for getting a going rate for hardware you're looking to buy/sell. I use it when I'm building a computer for someone with spare parts I have. I can get a general idea of what to charge the person.

I agree, I would never buy anything from most of the companies listed on Pricewatch. I learned the hard way.

i haven't used pricewatch in at least a year... i've picked up the habit of using http://www.pricegrabber.com and then heading over to resellerratings.com
i've found some excellent vendors that way... pricewatch.com is full of crummy vendors

I use pricewatch for everything i buy and i always get the lowest price i can get. Of course i check out the company before i enter credit info, but there has only been one time i have found a bad company and didn't order from then. Another way you save is by shipping prices. Like http://www.googlegear.com (one of the best all-around hardware stores there is) almost always has free 2nd day shipping, or at least less than $1 second day shipping, and they have all around low prices. I found them on pricewatch and i use them all the time.
