out there - got past norton with latest definitions - suddenly got a bunch of IE errors - then rebooted and got a message from Norton that it couldn't start up - virus had norton disabled and couldn't even scan disk - i'll just nuke the drives with a low level format - wanted to change mobo anyway

keep your eyes open - this is the first one i've gotten in 2 years

vector must have been email unless it was a "sleeper" that activated on the 20th

Any hints on the name of this virus?

And btw, I was using Norton a year or so ago and got a virus, Norton didn't even notice it and I had the latest updates. Tried the free AVG av and it found and removed the virus. Before you format you might try it.

They have regular updates and it appears better than Norton to me. How they can keep it free is beyond me. It also tells you when you receive a virus through email.

naturally, until the last time I changed mobos, I was running AVG and Norton side by side ..lol

think i'll go back to that
