I have a WD200BB drive (20GB, ATA100) and according to the WD Data Lifgaurd Tools it is not a WD drive. The tools version I have is 2.0 and the latest is 2.8. I tried to make a bootable floppy with 2.8 but it keeps saying : Error on A: drive: DMA crosses 64k boundry. I've tried several floppies and I get the same error each time. Any ideas ?

*Edit* Invited FP to give me an answer. :)

Your running XP right? Try it on a Win 9x machine instead. I think the extractor is not compatable with XP.

You've got me. I never even heard of updating the firmware on a HDD.

Most of those utils that make a bootable floppy are DOS apps. Try booting with a Win98 boot disk and run it from DOS.

I tried LifeGaurd Tools ver. 10.0 and it made a WD boot floppy.

Don't know if this helps, but when my Maxtor started telling me that it was no longer a Maxtor, i had a little funeral, and sent it back for an RMA.
