Installing a USB keyboard bootup problem?

Trying to get around a flaky ps2 kb port on my older MSI BXMaster motherboard, I've picked up an HP usb keyboard.

I thought it would be a simple solution but having a problem booting up.

I've enabled usb legacy and halt on-all errors except kb but I still hang at the screen right after post.

If I plug in my ps2 kb and wiggle the connector, I can boot up then plug in the usb kb.

I run winXP and its autodetecting the kb no problem.
I'd like to keep this mb for a few more months if I can figure this out.

Any ideas?

For info.............

Turns out my bios doesn't have boot from usb device in the bios as its pretty old and if I leave the usb kb plugged in the bootup will freeze at post. Solution for now, I have to unplug the usb kb, boot to windows then plug it in.

I can live with that for a bit. :)
