WinTV card and video capture...

Just got this all going and messing around with ti... hauppages program seems like junk is there something out there to use like a VCR to caputure TV shows at certain times? have a few shows i want to save to the hdd but having a hell of a time figuring it out. I know there's some people that use this like TIVO just wondering how your doing it?

There was a very good article about making your PC into a Tivo in last month's PCGamer.

The standard WinTV can't be used like a Tivo. You want the WinTV PVR:

ATI also makes the ATI TV-Wonder that PCGamer really like and does most of the Tivo features (also in various flavors):

I'm not as much interested in the TIVO as i am capturing tv shows to mpeg... I have the WinTV-FM card... model 401 i think has a remote and stuff...

Well you can record, you just don't have the ability to record on a timer with the standard WinTV unless they've changed it.
