since it is under the HD, yes it does pull some heat out, I had to take the fan apart and flip it over so it would pull the heat from the HD....

what I did with mine is I didnt instal a floppy and I put the HD in that spot. that way, there was lots more room in the back for the rear fan to remove air from unobstructed.
I also put 2 slim 50mm fans i nthe front sucking in and cout an itty bitty hold on the side where the PS blows. Put a grill on it and the air out of the PC went right out of the case. that helped alot.

I am also going to cut the guard that is on the rear fan and put a normal finger guard there instead, I have read that helps as well

Is the motherboard in there upgradeable? Does the vendor offer other boards that can fit a case that size as well? Those cases are really compact looking. Sweet for tight spaces

I don't know how upgradeable these are, they do have a bunch of other systems, but the MBs can't go from one case to another...

that case style only supports 2 mboards, the sv24 and sv25. there are newer cases that have the new p4 and amd stuff. both of which have AGP slots.

and the FV25
we actually ordered the SV25 and we were shipped the FV25, from what I read the FV25 is just a few upgrades on top of the SV25

I'm just getting into micro atx myself but more selection of motherboards for them. I have a gigabyte socket 370 mb in an Inwin L545 case with vertical dvd that's real pretty looking and sports a tualitan 1.2 celeron. Only weakness is the built in 8mb trident video which I could replace with another pci video card.
Its small, quiet and looks great. The shuttles I've seen look good with a fair amount of variety now for the insides.
You did a nice job for the gf.
