I got a Thermaltake Crystal Orb, and im trying to install it. It looks as though the previous fan was installed with thermal compound. How do i go about removing the old fan?
Also, i have some Arctic Silver, should i use that instead of the compound supplied with the Crystal Orb?
Thank you.

Depending on the video card, there should be 2 push pins holding the stock heatsink. push these out from the rear of the card. As far as the Artic Silver, it is up to you.

its pretty easy. drop the card into a FREEZER safe bag and let it sit in your freezer for about 30 min.
THen remove it and do this.
Get a charge card and slip it under the heatsink between it and the GPU. THen get a thin flat head screw driver and put it between the heatsink and chargecard and twist gently. should pop right off.
Merry Christmas!

is it a radeon?
when I modded my 8500 heres what I did
Instead of doing the freezer trick (just not comfortable with that heh) I turned off all my case fans and unscrewed the agp screw/retention mechanism
Ran 3 loops od 3DMark2k1
Shut off system and quickly as possible pulled the card and did the creditcard/screwdriver thing
the thermal epoxy was weak as bubble gum and pulled right off the GPU
I then stuck the CrOrb on with Artic Alumina (I've had bad luck with artic silver and GPUs...RIP Gainward GF3 Classic)
Used a 1972 Physicians desk reference (heh) to weight down the crorb while the epoxy set
let it sit for 4 hours and was golden
