Best CD Burner out now?
Best CD Burner out now?
As many may know, I am a little behind. Judging by NewEgg and their user reviews, LiteOn's seem to have damn good prices for very fast speeds. I just want to know what to ask for for xmas. I sorta would like to have one, as times will come when I would have wished I had one.

No doubt, Lite On's are the one to get. They usually out perform higher priced plextors in testing.
Sometimes you get get one at office max, office depot or staples cheap with a rebate. They usually sell them as a cendyne, but inside is a lite on. Though not all the time so you'd need to check the numbers.

ditto on the lie ons - i got one which was badged as a cendyne (40x) at omax for like 30 and it is very nice - I even replaced that 8x phillips I had in my work box! i think cdrinfo has lots of test - beyond a certain speed they don't go that much faster - so anything above 40x may be overkill
my 40x will burn my old 16x rated media at 24, which is nice

Just bought a Lite-on 48x24x48 (yes that's 24x on read-writables!) from NewEgg for chump change.
I've bought several dozen Lite-ons for myself, friends and clients. Never any problem except one 40x12x48 which they RMA'd in 5 days.
Great drives, cheap price.
