Advice on crashes... Power Supply?

I have had the core of my current system for some time now. It is a Tiger MPX board with dual MP1600s. Up until a few weeks ago, I was running the system rock solid on Win2k with just one processor. I had resolved an IRQ Channel conflict and all was well.

When I added the second processor, I went to XP for a few days and it kept crashing on me, so I went back to Win2k. Win2k has also not been nearly as stable in the last few weeks. I have not moved any hardware since adding the second processor, so I don't believe the IRQ channel conflict has cropped up again.

It just dawned on me last night that these problems started after I added the second CPU (don't know why I didn't realize this sooner). This leads to to think (hope) that it is a power supply problem more than anything else. I currently have my trusty Antec PP-303X in there (300 watts). The more I think about this, the more I realize that this might be the problem. I am using a 300w PS to run the following:

Tyan Tiger MPX
2x MP 1600+
512MB RAM
Adaptec 19160
Cheetah 15k HDD
SCSI CD
SCSI Burner
Sound, Nic, Video, etc.

As I read this I am starting to laugh at the absurdity of it, so I suppose a better questiosn would be a PS reccomendation. :o Thanks.

I've never ran dual cpu's but I do believe you need more power than that. Probably at least 400w or more.

Good ones are the usual suspects like Antec and Enermax. The newer Antec true power supplies are great while some of the newer Enermax ones have an adjustable fan control. Plus most of the newer ones have 2 fans, one underneath helping to suck hot air away from the cpu.

Coolmax may be another solution. Just got one in but haven't had time to check it out. At 550w and 3 fans the power is there. is similar in ways to both the Antec and Enermax. See here

Fo dealers I suggest

And the others we have linked to like KDC, Crazypc, etc..
