I'm getting to the point where I hate updating my drivers. I have to Ghost my Win2K partition (because I am not a trusting soul) then run refresh rate fix afterward, and then hope it doesn't screw up any games.

Some questions for anyone that's tried them:

- Any problems?

- Any REAL performance improvement (That claim of "Up to 25% performance improvement" is an utter crock - they say that everytime, if it was true every time they made that claim the Geforce4 would by doing texel calculations at the speed of light by now :) ).

- Does the NVidia Refresh Rate fix work with them or have they broken that again?

Thx....

If you use Refresh Force when you switch between drivers you don't have to worry about redoing your refresh rates. http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/home.html is the web site. As far as the drivers, I haven't noticed a real big difference.

*EDIT*

Appears as though the website doesn't have a download link on it. You can download it from http://www.3dnews.ru/download/tweak/video/refreshforce/ . The page is in a foreign language.

BSBY, is that a TSR app? I'd rather not have anything running in the background I don't need.

I'll download it and look at it later.

In my experience theyre fast but buggy.

Multiple lightsources and pixel/vertex shaders show a massive performance improvment in games that actually use them.

Unfortunately BF1942 is unplayable....constant hard freezes every 10-30 seconds and the freezes last upwards of 5 seconds

Americas army crashes twice as often as with the 30.82s (never could get this game to run stable on any platform *shrug*

Operation Flashpoint crashes to desktop after about 30mins

I've had all of the above happen in clean installs of 2ksp3 and xpsp1

IMHO 29.42 and 30.82 are the only good dets out atm

though YMMV

On the plus side color correction looks better than ever and the new layout for the settings just plain rawks.

As for refresh fixers....I've always just used pstrip to lock refresh...works fine but a bit of a resource hog.

Anyone else?

Still using 30.82 here and they're a ROCK. A minor gain for lack of stability is no fair trade in my opinion. I'm hard pressed to switch if LoneWolf's problems are common.

Not a TSR but it modifies the registry like the nVidia Refresh Rate Fix.

I'm not having any problems with them. That Refresh Force works great (not a TSR and you don't even have to reboot!). I like the the little extras in the display properties as well...

I installed the 40.72 drivers yesterday afternoon and they seem to work just fine. Quake 3 (Team Arena and 3Wave) runs just fine and looks the same as the 29.42 drivers I was using. I may have gotten a small speed increase with the new drivers, but nothing to brag about.

Unreal Tournament 2K3 runs fine also. I didn't have time to run any benchmarks for UT2K3 yet, but I will and post here.

I will also try BF 1942 to see if it runs any better and give 3DMark2001 a run also.

ive got them running, only game that im really playing now is UT2K3... and I haven't noticed any difference between 30.82, but that's probably due to the rest of the specs of my computer. no problems to report.
