On a HP 932 every 1/2" the text is lighter than the rest. I measured the distance between the lines that are lighter and they are every 1/2" almost as accurate if you would of marked them with t ruler. I looked at the print head traveling above the paper when it is printing and see there is some space (to my surprise) between the paper and the head. I thought it was a flat spot on the roller, but not the case.

I changed the cartridge and the problem was less, but still there. If I use a darker setting (more ink) it isn't as noticeable, but I can still see the difference.

The test page does print ok. I have cleaned the contacts, but no difference. This is the 3rd cartridge that the problem has happened on. BTW these aren't HP cartridges. I do re-fill them also.

The first time I thought it was just low ink and/or dirty contacts, which I cleaned. I put a 2nd cartridge in and all was fine. I re-filled it at least once and all was fine. Then the problem returned.

Any ideas?

drivers? print resolution?
if you just bought it... maybe you could return it and see if another one would do the same

Drivers are 2k corporate version (consumer version is too bloated)

There's usually a nozzle alignment utility you can run, but I doubt it comes with the generic 2K drivers. Check HP's site for the full driver.

No it wouldn't! I have always used the draft with the lightest ink setting and it hasn't been a problem! It still prints too dark even with this setting (except for the light row every 1/2"

I haven't had a HP cartridge in a while, I think it is a cartridge issue. These Carrot cartridges print awfully light much unlike HP, of course the price is much lighter also!

This is not a generic driver! It is the corporate driver and it does have the cleaning utility with it. Which I've used. It doesn't have the return feature on ink supply since that doesn't do me anygood with refilling the same cartridge over. The full driver software is also more a resource hog!

.. well i've never had any problems w/ my HPs at regular print quality settings being too dark..
as for when i set draft, they get light and at times i see lines every 1/2in.
mebbe you could borrow someone's HP carts and test them on your printer?


... as for print drivers being a resource hog.. i dunno how much that can be... it's not like you're printing 24/7 right?

I orginally had issues with the regular driver so HP told me about the corporate driver which I have used since. It has never been a real problem.

doesn't sound like it's a driver issue; it could very well be a clogged/dirty printhead. HP used to send out these cleaning kits for their printers that had mini scouring pads (similar to the ones used for dishes) on pieces of paper. look around at your local walmart or office supply store, sometimes you can find cartridges with these kits. while i don't endorse or reccommend sliding a scouring pad across the contacts of your printhead (not the one on the actual cartridge), it's an idea...?

also, the "carrot" ink you have is probably from www.carrotink.com . they're not bad at all; i've ordered from them before. their ink kinda smells though... i've found printpal to be cheaper and they suit my text printing needs just fine.

I don't remember where I got those cartridges from, but it wasn't online from where you said. Thought it is their cartridges!
