as title says. my comp has been runnin decently, around 42-43 startup and 48 at most for load. but yesterday it kept shutting off on me becuz of mbm5(shtudown at 50C). happend thrice today also. startup was more like 46, and if i ran F@H for more then 15-20 mins it shutsdown from temps.
its a 1600XP @ 1800. like i said ran fine till today, and prob been around a month since i oc'd. side is off, with a 120 in and a 120 out (front and back) just makes no sense here. i'll try to reseat the heatsink tommorrow altho it should be fine. can u think of ne thing else to try?!?!?!!?

dirt will cause them to heat up gradually room temp might have changed a few degree's too 50C is super low for shut down... set it at like 65C at least... Damn transistor breakdown don't happen until like 90C anyways... so 65C won't hurt it any...

Agrred. Why do you have it set to shutdown at 50 C? If your temps normally hover around 46 you can expect peaks skirting 50 C,
50 C is not all that hot. I personally don't like to see a system running over 60, but most BIOS alarms don't even kick in until 70 or 80C.
Also keep in mind that those temp readings aren't all that accurate. Use them as a guide to RELATIVE temp changes.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Blow out the dust once a month with some canned air, and tie up your ribbons out of the way so they don't block air flow. Reset your MBM alarms for 65 C as Pred says.

yea 60 is where i generally set it, if you have seen a signifigant jump in temp, your heatsink might have come slightly unmated, try reseating it.

wow. well i figure with the side off 50c should be generous, lol. ne way, i set it up to like 54 overnight just to see how high it went and apparantly its under that, cuz she still runnin. i'll throw it up to 60-65 tho, if u guyz say its safe. honestly i was thinkin mid-50s was gettin to hot for a cpu to handle. just shows how much of a n00b i am =)
it has dropped back down to 48 tho, so it may have just been the weather or room temp. thx for the posts tho.
